ELIZABETHTOWN – Fairmont remained undefeated in Three Rivers Conference boys basketball action with a 70-57 victory over East Bladen Friday night.

Senior Nalijha Pittman dropped in a pair of first quarter baskets as the Tornadoes built a 14-9 lead. Eagle senior Adonis Avery nailed a 3-point shot and netted two free throws in the period.

Senior Derrick Arnette threw in a 3-point shot and a 2-point basket in the second quarter, and Javon Morris popped in 2 baskets and a free throw as the Tornadoes took a 35-24 halftime lead.

Avery and center Robert Cooley pumped in 2 baskets each for the Eagles in the second quarter. Senior Sincere Smith cashed in a trio of free throws, and senior Deondre Newkirk drilled in a 3-point shot.

Two baskets each from Sidney McKeithan and Nalijha Pittman stretched the Fairmont lead to 51-36 at the third quarter break. Eagle guard Messiah Leach drained a pair of 3-point shots and hit a pair of 2-point baskets in the period.

Avery lit up the scoreboard in the final quarter with a 3-point basket, a trio of 2-point baskets and four free throws as he scored 13 of his game-high 22 points.

Smith drained a 3-point shot and made a 2-point basket and a pair of free throws in the fourth period for East and finished with 12 points. Leach scored 11 points for the Eagles.

McKeithan, Corry Addison and Kaheem Pittman shared scoring honors for Fairmont with 12 points each. Arnette scored 11 points, and Nalijha Pittman added 10.

The Eagles will host St. Pauls Monday night.
