FAIRMONT – A 33-point second quarter explosion propelled Fairmont to an 81-39 victory over West Bladen Friday night in the Three Rivers Conference boys basketball opener for both schools.
Junior Keshawn Lewis fired in a pair of baskets and hit 2 free throws, and sophmore Tyre Boykin nailed a 3-point shot and another basket to keep West Bladen within 19-13 in the first quarter.
Nalijah Pittman and Jaquon Hinson dropped in 6 points each, and teammates Sidney McKeithan, Corey Addison and Javon Morris netted 5 points each during the second quarter Tornado surge that opened up a 52-27 halftime lead.
Boykin topped the Knight scoring with 9 points, and junior Kerron Baldwin-Washington followed with 8 points each.
Pittman and Derrick Arnette led the Fairmont scoring with 14 points each. Addison added 11 points.
West Bladen will travel to Red Springs Tuesday night.
