ROCKY POINT – Myron McKoy and Isaiah Bromelle teamed up to make 5 free throws in the final 58 seconds as their Heide Trask Titans held off East Bladen 56-50 Wednesday night in non-conference boys’ basketball action.

McKoy knocked down four 3-balls in the game and led the Titans with 20 points. Bromelle canned a pair of 3-balls and totaled 13 points. At the foullin e Trask sank 11 of 15 foul shots in the final period and 18 of 24 for the game.

Sherrod Henderson’s slam dunk padded the Trask lead to 42-37 late in the 3rd period and the margin grew to 45-37 at the quarter break.

Senior Malcolm Bolden rallied the Eagles with 2 baskets and 2 free throws, and seniors Jacob Nixon and Zamar Lewis netted baskets. Sophomore Dominick Collins tossed in 2 free throws, and senior Yontee Dobson hit one as the East trimmed the margin to 51-50 before the final Titan free throw run.

Bolden topped the Eagle scoring with 17 points. Collins and sophomore center Rodney Lacewell followed with 8 points each. Lewis and Nixon totaled 7 points each.

The Titans raced to an early 12-5 lead before an 11-2 Eagle run vaulted the visitors in front 16-14 at the break. Bolden fired in 3 buckets in the period, and Nixon popped in 2 baskets and a free throw. Lacewell muscled in a pair of hoops, and Lewis added a free throw.

Collins nailed a 3-ball, another basket and a free throw to spark a 14-11 Eagle surge. Lewis powered in a pair of baskets, Lacewell canned 2 free throws and Bolden flipped in a basket for a 30-25 East lead. A 7-0 Trask run vaulted the Titans back on top 32-30 at the break.

Bolden and Lacewell threw in baskets, Dobson cashed in 2 free throws, and Bolden hit one in the 3rd period before Trask closed the frame with 5 straight points.

It was the first loss of the season for Coach Aking Elting’s Eagles, now 5-1, who will visit Whiteville Friday night.
