Heide Trask closed the game with a 20-5 surge that sealed a 64-45 Four County Conference boys basketball victory over East Bladen Wednesday night at Rocky Point.

The Eagles had opened the third quarter with a 12-3 spurt that trimmed a 39-28 Trask halftime lead to 44-40. However, the Titans answered with a 9-0 run to stretch their lead to 53-40 at the quarter break and outscored East 11-5 in the final period.

“We would fight back and get close, then they would blow it open again,” said East Bladen Coach Ken Cross. “That happened several times. They also killed us on the boards.”

Junior Ethan Hines topped the Eagle scoring with 13 points. Senior Jermaine Robinson and junior Eian Hines tossed in 8 points each for East Bladen.

Ethan Hines scored 5 points in the first quarter for East, but the Titans built a 21-14 lead. Freshman Adonis Avery and junior Demetrius Wooten both bombed in 3-point shots in the second quarter, but the Trask padded the lead to 39-28.

The Eagles are now 1-3 in the league and 4-8 overall. East Bladen travels to Wallace-Rose Hill Friday night.
