EAST ARCADIA – Marvin Lacewell and Gary Mason combined for 21 points to lead Paul Brown Leadership Academy to a 48-30 boys basketball victory over Alpha Academy Tuesday night.

T. J. Smith bombed in a pair of 3-point baskets in the opening quarter as the Paul Brown Bulldogs built an early 12-4 lead. Lacewell dropped in a pair of baskets during the early run, and Marquese Robinson drilled in a 3-point shot to keep the margin at 15-9 at the quarter break.

Robinson pumped in two more baskets in the second period and Lacewell added one to keep the Bulldogs ahead 22-18 at halftime.

Sam Bowen’s 3-point basket for the Alpha Timberwolves sliced the margin to four points at the half.

A 3-point basket from Alpha’s Tramad Hipp keyed a 7-3 run that tied the game 25-25 in the third quarter.

Lacewell answered with a 3-point bomb and another basket, and Zarian Brown threw in a pair of baskets for the Bulldogs who led 33-25 at the quarter break.

Mason sank 3 of 4 free throws in the final period then nailed a 3-point shot and another basket. Center MyKell McKoy hit the boards for a pair of rebound baskets as the winners padded the final margin.

Lacewell led the Paul Brown offense with 11 points, and Mason racked up 10 points. Smith and Brown finished with 8 points each and Robinson tallied 7 points.

Seth Langford topped the Alpha scorers with 8 points.

Coach Ken Cross’ Bulldogs improved to 3-0 on the season with the win.
