ELIZABETHTOWN – Juniors Kris Oxendine and Noah Chavis blistered the nets with five 3-point baskets each to lead Red Springs to a 49-44 Three Rivers Conference boys’ basketball victory Friday night over East Bladen.

Oxendine who led the Red Devils with 18 points scored 6 in the final period to help preserve the win. Chavis scored 4 of his 16 points in the 4th quarter.

Sophomore Malcolm Bolden drained a 3-point shot and 2 other baskets in the opening quarter for East Bladen. Senior Rasean McKoy and Zamar Lewis muscled in baskets, and senior Javont McDowell sank 2 free throws to keep the Eagles even 13-13 at the quarter break.

McDowell, Lewis and McKoy dropped in baskets in the 2nd period for East Bladen, but the Red Devils edged ahead 23-19.

Bolden popped in a basket and 3 free throws in the 3rd quarter for the Eagles. Senior Freddy Wooten buried a 3-point shot, and McKoy powered in a basket to keep East within 34-29.

The Eagles, now 1-2 in league play and 4-2 overall, will host West Columbus Tuesday night.
