BLADENBORO – Senior Keagan Brayboy sparked a 22-11 opening surge that propelled Red Springs to a 38-36 Three Rivers Conference boys basketball victory over West Bladen Friday night.

Brayboy threw in 4 baskets in the first period, and teammates Kameron McLean and Shyheim Richardson contributed 2 baskets each to the opening Red Devil surge.

Sophmore Shyron Adams tossed in a pair of baskets, and senior Kerron Washington drilled in a 3-point shot for the Knights in the first quarter.

The Knights began the second quarter with an 11-4 run that trimmed the Red Springs lead to 26-22, but the Red Devils answered with a 17-11 surge to pad their halftime lead to 43-33.

Adams drained a 3-point shot and 2 more baskets to lead the Knight rally. Juniior Tyre Boykin pumped in 2 baskets and hit 3 free throws in the period. Junior Trashawn Ballard canned 2 free throws and another basket.

Richardson blistered the nets with 5 baskets and 2 free throws in the second quarter for the visitors. Senior teammate Jaylon Mack netted 2 baskets in the period.

Richardson hurled in 2 baskets and 2 free throws in the third quarter to keep the Red Devil lead at 57-47.

Lewis kept West Bladen close with a basket and 2 free throws. Boykin and senior Jaheim Lesane made 2 free throws each, and Washington, Ballard and senior Jackson Norris contributed one basket each to the Knight attack in the third quarter.

Brayboy took charge for the Red Devils in the final period with 3 baskets and 3 free throws. Mack connected on 4 foul shots, and Jayshawn Carthen dropped in a pair of baskets.

Boykin lit up the scoreboard in the final quarter with 4 baskets and a 3-point goal and led the Knight scoring in the game with 22 points. Adams totaled 13 points in the game. Washington followed with 7 points, and Lewis and Ballard finished with 6 points each.

Richardson topped all scorers with 25 points for the Red Devils. Brayboy finished with 19 points in the game, and Mack totaled 10 points.

The Knights, now 0-1 in league play and 2-2 overall, will travel to East Columbus Tuesday night.
