ELIZABETHTOWN – South Columbus rode a 16-9 closing surge to a 44-34 Three Rivers Conference boys basketball victory over East Bladen on Friday night.
Senior Juwan Baldwin dropped in 2 baskets, and junior Javant McDowell popped in a basket and a free throw in the third period as the Eagles trimmed a 22-14 halftime deficit to 28-25.

Freshman Capt’n Jordan threw in 2 baskets and a free throw in the final quarter, senior Rajon Graham tossed in a basket and 2 free throws, and senior Jaquan Jordan hit 4 free throws to preserve the Stallion lead.
Baldwin and senior Corey McKoy sank 4 free throws each in the final quarter for the Eagles. Baldwin led the Eagle scoring with 10 points, and Corey McKoy followed with 8 points.
Graham drained a 3-point shot and 2 other baskets in the first quarter as the Stallions grabbed a 9-5 lead. Charles Brown knocked down a pair of first quarter shots to keep the Eagles close.
A trio of 3-point baskets by E. J. Tisdale, Riley Hewett and Treshawn Grate kept South on top 22-14 at halftime. Junior Zach Meares nailed a 3-point shot, Baldwin and freshman Malcolm Bolden canned a pair of baskets, and Corey McKoy cashed in 2 free throws for East in the quarter.
Graham led all scorers with 13 points for South. Tisdale and Hewett followed with 6 points each.
East Bladen, now 0-2 in league play and 1-3 overall, will travel to Red Springs on Tuesday night.
