BLADENBORO – South Robeson closed the game with a 9-0 run that lifted the Mustangs to a 74-66 Three Rivers Conference boys basketball victory over West Bladen Thursday night.

The Mustangs took a 55-53 lead into the final period, but senior Keshawn Lewis fired in 2 baskets and 2 free throws, and sophmore Shyron Adams buried a 3-point shot and another basket. Junior Tyre Boykin added a basket as the Knights edged ahead 66-65 with 1:27 remaining.

Mustang guards Kylerr Page and Daniel Murray threw in 2 baskets and a free throw each in the fourth quarter, and burly Cameron Werrell dropped in a basket and 2 free throws as South escaped with the victory.

Boykin topped all scorers with 25 points, and Adams finished with 13 points for the Knights. Lewis followed with 11 points, and senior Jaheim Lesane contributed 9 points.

Werrell led the Mustangs with 23 points, and Page followed with 20 points. Murray totaled 13 points.

Page, Sincere Southern and Werrell netted 2 baskets each in the opening period, and Werrell tacked on a 3-point shot as the Mustangs built a 15-13 lead.

Boykin poured in four 2-point baskets and bombed in a 3-pointer to keep the Knights close. Junior teammate Trashawn Ballard added a basket.

Werrell powered in a trio of baskets and a free throw in the second quarter, and Page popped in a trio of baskets. Murray tallied 2 baskets as the South halftime lead grew to 40-32.

Boykin continued to blister the nets with a pair of 3-point bombs and a pair of 2-point baskets in the second period. Lesane popped in a basket and a free throw, and Lewis and Ballard contributed a basket each.

Adams sparked a Knight third-quarter rally with a trio of baskets and 2 free throws. Lesane drained a 3-point shot, another basket and a free throw. Lewis nailed a 3-point shot, and Boykin and senior Drew Harris pumped in baskets as West pulled to within 55-53.

Werrell and Page rang up 2 baskets and a free throw each in the third quarter, and Murray collected 2 baskets to keep the Mustangs ahead.

West Bladen will travel to St. Pauls Friday night.
