ELIZABETHTOWN – South Robeson defeated East Bladen 77-67 Tuesday night in Three Rivers Conference boys basketball action.

Senior Messiah Leach nailed a pair of 3-point shots and another basket in the opening period for the Eagles. Senior Sincere Smith muscled in a basket and a free throw, and guard Adonis Avery and freshman center Javant McDowell netted a basket each.

The Mustangs stretched their lead to 36-29 at halftime. Smith sank 2 free throws and a basket in the second period. Junior Keshaun Davis and Leach tossed in a basket and a free throw each. McDowell and Bryon Bowen added a basket each to keep East Bladen close.

Smith peppered the rim with 4 baskets in the third period for East. McDowell powered in a pair of baskets, Leach threw in a basket and a free throw each, and Reashoid Pone drilled in a 3-point shot. Senior Deondre Newkirk popped in a basket to keep East within 60-49 at the quarter break.

Smith banged in 3 more baskets and hit a trio of free throws in the final quarter. Davis nailed a pair of 2-point shots, Leach sank a basket and a free throw and McDowell added a basket.

Smith lit up the scoreboard with a game-high 24 points for the Eagles. Leach racked up 17 points, and McDowell finished with 10 points. Davis totaled 7 points.

Six-four Cameron Werrell and Daniel Murray shared Mustang scoring honors with 14 points each. Eric Lewis followed with 11 points, and Zach Carter added 10 points.

East Bladen will host rival West Bladen Friday on Senior Night.
