ELIZABETHTOWN – St. Pauls survived a 27-point East Bladen fourth quarter rally and posted a 57-50 Three Rivers Conference boys basketball victory Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs took a 41-23 lead into the final period, but sophmore center Javant McDowell worked the paint for 3 baskets and 3 free throws to lead the Eagle rally. Senior Darrell Banks drilled in a pair of 3-point baskets and another basket. Senior Keshaun Davis popped in 3 baskets in the period.

Emonta Smith led the Bulldog scoring with 19 points, and teammate Isaiah Davis scored 7 points.

McDowell topped the Eagle scoring with 18 points. Senior Greyson Heustess pumped in 11 points, and Banks finished with 10 points. Davis followed with 7 points.

Nine different Bulldogs scored in the opening period as St. Pauls built a 15-9 lead. McDowell powered in 2 baskets and a free throw for East.

Heustess threw in a 3-point basket and two more baskets in the second quarter. McDowell added a basket, and sophmore Freddy Wooten sank 2 free throws to keep East within 28-21 at halftime.

St. Pauls outscored the Eagles 13-2 in the third quarter to take a 41-23 lead.

The Eagles will travel to East Columbus Friday night.
