ELIZABETHTOWN – St. Pauls built an early 15-5 lead en route to a 60-48 Three Rivers Conference boys basketball victory over East Bladen Tuesday night.

Emonta Smith drained a 3-point shot, and Waltay Jackson dropped in a basket and 2 free throws for the Bulldogs in the first period. Junior Lefrederick Wooten buried a 3-point shot, and McDowell powered in a bucket for the Eagles.

Wooten popped in 2 baskets in the second quarter. Junior RaSean McKoy and senior Juwan Baldwin threw in a basket and a free throw each, and freshman Malcolm Bolden hit a free throw. Smith hurled in 3 baskets to keep St. Pauls up 27-16 at halftime.

McDowell worked the paint for 2 baskets and 2 free throws, and Wooten drilled in a 3-point shot, another basket and a free throw in the third period. RaSean McKoy netted a basket, and senior Tayshaun Berkeley sank 2 free throws. Jackson delivered a 3-point shot, another basket and 4 free throws to spark the Bulldogs to a 46-32 lead.

Wooten and McDowell pumped in 2 baskets each in the final period. Baldwin and junior Jacob Priest tossed in a basket and a free throw each. Bolden tacked on 2 free throws, but the Bulldogs connected on 10 of 14 free throws in the final quarter to preserve the win.

Wooten led all scorers with 17 points, and McDowell followed with 12 points. Baldwin finished with 6 points. Smith and Jackson topped the Bulldogs with 13 points each.

East Bladen, now 3-15, will travel to East Columbus Friday night.
