BLADENBORO – Jeyvian Tatum and Eric Malloy sparked a 28-8 opening run that propelled St. Pauls to a 91-68 Three Rivers Conference boys basketball victory over West Bladen.

 

Tatum rang up 11 points in the 1st period, and Malloy chipped in with 7. Anthony Mitchell nailed a 1st quarter 3-ball for the Knights. Javonta Matthews popped in a basket, and Matthews, senior ShyRon Adams and Josh Lewis sank free throws.

 

Adams pumped in a pair of baskets and 4 free throws in the 2nd quarter, and Donovan Stone threw in 2 baskets. Matthews, sophomore Deonte Lacey, Keshaun Ballard and Josh Lewis netted a basket each in the period for West.

 Josh Henderson and Josh McNair combined for 15 points in the 2nd period to keep the Bulldogs up 49-28 at halftime. Henderson tallied 8 points in the quarter, and McNair totaled 7.

 

Mitchell fired in a pair of 3-balls and another basket after to lead a 26-15 Knight rally. Josiah Brown and Stone buried 3-balls, and Brown, Stone, Lacey, Matthews and sophomore Gary Parker threw in baskets. Adams and Lewis hit free throws as the Knights trimmed the margin to 64-54.

 

Demonta Williams with 6 points and Tatum with 5 points ignited a 27-14 Bulldog closing run. Adams blistered the nets with a 3-ball, 3 more baskets and a pair of free throws in the final period. Matthews canned 2 free throws, and Lewis made a free throw.

 

Adams topped the Knight scoring with 20 points, and Mitchell followed with 11 points. Matthews finished with 10 points, and Stone totaled 9 points.

 

Tatum led all scorers with 24 points for the Bulldogs. Henderson racked up 17 points, and Malloy finished with 13 points.

 

West Bladen will host South Columbus Tuesday night. St. Pauls, now 10-1, will entertain Whiteville Tuesday night.
