CLINTON – Sophomore Chase Williams and freshman Jackson Pait combined for 36 points Friday night to lead unbeaten West Bladen to a 55-43 boys’ basketball victory over Clinton in the Southeastern Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

Pait nailed a 3-point shot and Williams, sophomore Hezekiah Adams and junior Cornelius Esters dropped in baskets to keep the Knights within 10-9 at the quarter break.

Williams worked the paint for 3 baskets and a free throw in the 2nd period, and Pait buried another 3-ball and tossed in 2 more baskets. Adams sank a free throw as the Knights edged ahead 24-22 at halftime.

Adams caught fire in the 3rd quarter attacking the rim for a trio of baskets. Williams powered in 2 more baskets and a free throw, and Pait drained another 3-pointer as West opened up a 38-31 lead.

Williams battled inside for 2 more baskets and a free throw in the final period. Pait pumped in 2 more baskets, and junior Andre Moore and freshman Tylik McCall bombed in 3-balls. Adams netted another basket.

Williams led the Knights with 19 points, and Pait followed with 17 points. Adams finished with 11 points. Daniel Adasiak and Josiah McLaurin shared scoring honors for the Dark Horses with 9 points each.

Coach Travis Pait’s Knights improved to 7-0 overall and will host South Columbus Tuesday.
