Junior Sayaun Dent scored 9 of his team-high 18 points in the fourth quarter as West Bladen held on for a 61-58 Four County Conference boys basketball victory over Pender in Burgaw Tuesday night.

West Bladen led 47-39 after 3 periods, but junior guard Rodney Hansley drained a pair of 3-point shots and fired in 12 of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter to lead a Patriot rally.

Dent sank 7 of 10 free throws in the final period and added a field goal. Junior John Bowen and sophomore Shaquille Johnson dropped in baskets to keep the Knights on top.

Bowen, a 6-6 junior, finished with 13 points for West Bladen, and junior guard Jimmy Williams and senior Stefan McDonald tossed in 8 points each.

Dent threw in 3 baskets and a free throw in the first quarter, and Williams and McDonald nailed 3-point shots as the Knights built a 17-11 lead.

Bowen pumped in a couple of second quarter baskets, freshman Keshawn Lewis buried a 3-point shot and Williams made 3 free throws as West Bladen kept the lead at 29-23.

Bowen connected for 2 more baskets and a free throw in the third quarter, and senior Will Lambeth bombed in a 3-point shot. McDonald, Johnson, Dent, senior Malique McDowell and sophmore Jonathan Robinson delivered one basket each in the period as the Knight lead grew to 47-39.

Junior Justin Hooper followed Hansley with 13 points for Pender, and junior guard Jarious Williams netted 10 points.

West Bladen improves to 6-5 in the Four County and 15-6 overall. The Knights will host second-place Clinton Friday night.
