BLADENBORO – West Bladen placed 4 players in double figures and celebrated Senior Night with a 62-41 Southeastern Athletic Conference boys’ basketball victory over Midway Friday.

Freshman Hezekiah Adams and senior Javonta Matthews shared scoring honors with 14 points each for the Knights. Tall freshman Chase Williams dropped in 13 points, and sophomore Malachi Allen totaled 11 points. Senior Keshawn Ballard added 6 points.

Matthews banged in an opening bucket for the Knights, and Adams tossed in 2 more baskets. Williams muscled in a basket, before Ballard buried a pair of 3-point shots. Williams hit a free throw, before Parker powered in a basket for a 17-10 West Bladen lead.

Allen drilled in a 3-point shot to start the 2nd period, and Matthews battled inside for a bucket. Allen and Williams canned free throws, and Allen pumped in a basket. Matthews worked the paint for a basket that stretched the West halftime lead to 28-17.

Adams lit up the scoreboard to start the 2nd half with a 3-ball, a free throw and another basket. Allen popped in a basket, before Williams took charge inside scoring 3 baskets and a free throw as the Knight lead grew to 43-28.

Senior Josiah Brown began the final period with a basket for West, and Adams tossed in a basket and 2 free throws. Williams cashed in 2 free throws, and Matthews connected on 4 of 5 foul shots then hurled in 2 baskets. Allen closed out the Knight scoring with a basket and a free throw.

Wyatt Holland led Midway with 10 points, and Trey Gregory and Casey Culbreth chipped in with 8 points each.

Coach Travis Pait’s Knights improved to 9-12 on the season and will travel to Clinton Tuesday night.

Knight seniors Josiah Brown, Travail Baldwin, Javonta Matthews and Keshawn Ballard were honored in Senior Night activities.
