ROSEBORO – West Bladen broke open Wednesday night’s game at Lakewood with a 41-12 blitz in the middle quarters and rolled to a 64-28 non-conference boys’ basketball victory over the Leopards.

Freshman Hezekiah Adams fired in a 3-point shot and another basket in the opening quarter. Senior Javonta Matthews popped in a basket and 2 free throws, senior Keshawn Ballard drilled in a 3-ball, and junior Gary Parker sank 2 free throws  to put the Knights up 15-11 at the quarter break.

Sophomore Malachi Allen dropped in a pair of baskets to ignite West’s 19-5 2nd period run. Parker tossed in 2 free throws and a basket, and Adams knocked down a 3-point shot and a free throw. Seniors Josiah Brown and Travail Baldwin added baskets as the halftime lead grew to 34-16.

Allen bombed in a pair of 3-point shots and 2 more baskets to key the Knights 22-7 3rd quarter spurt. Ballard threw in 2 baskets, and Adams canned 2 free throws and a basket. Matthews netted a basket, and Brown hit 2 free throws to stretch the lead to 56-23.

Matthews pumped in 2 more baskets in the final quarter, and Adams and junior Walter Bealon netted baskets.

Adams led all scorers with 16 points, and Allen finished with 14 points. Matthews followed with 11 points, and Ballard contributed 7 points. Parker totaled 6 points.

Tony Freeman and Cu’Wan Williams scored 7 points each to lead Lakewood.

Coach Travis Pait’s Knights improved to 3-0 and will host West Columbus Friday night.
