BLADENBORO – Senior Tyquawn Johnson poured in 31 points to lead West Columbus to a 64-44 Three Rivers Conference boys basketball victory over West Bladen Friday night.

Johnson drained a trio of 3-point shots and tallied 15 points as the Vikings grabbed a 20-6 first quarter lead.  Senior Tyre Boykin nailed a 3-point shot, and senior Nijeah McKoy sank 3 free throws for the Knights in the period.

Boykin fired in a 3-point shot and 3 free throws in the second quarter, and junior Josh Lewis tossed in a basket and a free throw. McKoy and senior Nolan Bryant added baskets as West Bladen trimmed the margin to 30-19 at halftime.

Johnson keyed a 19-9 Viking surge in the third period with 14 more points including a pair of 3-point baskets. Boykin pumped in 2 baskets and a 3-point shot in the period.

Boykin canned 4 free throws and 2 baskets in the final quarter and led the West Bladen scoring with 24 points. Junior Shy’Ron Adams buried a 3-point shot and a free throw in the quarter, and center Xayvon Davis dropped in 2 baskets.

McKoy finished with 5 points for the Knights. Senior Winston Mason followed Johnson with 8 points for the Vikings.

The Knights, now 4-7, will travel to St. Pauls Tuesday night.
