BLADENBORO – West Bladen blistered the net with 10 goals Thursday night as the Knights rolled to a 10-1 non-conference boys’ soccer victory over East Columbus.
Senior Jordan Underwood and sophomore Kevyn De La Cruz fired in 2 goals each to lead the West Bladen scoring. Senior Cristian Sandoval Rojas knocked in 1 goal and dished out 1 assist. Sophomore Christopher Ramirez Labra distributed 2 assists.
Five other Knights scored 1 goal each in the game – seniors Joshua DeLeon, William Verdugo-Gomez and Martin Rojas Jacinto, sophomore Aiden Russ and freshman Jonah Bryan. West Bladen pounded the Gator defense with a barrage of 22 shots.
Sophomore Cade Allen posted a shutout in the opening half in goal for the Knights and was credited with 1 save. Junior Oswaldo Gonzalez-Lopez manned the goal in the 2nd half and had 2 saves.
West Bladen raced to a 4-0 halftime lead then scored 6 goals in the 2nd half to end the match in the 77th minute via the mercy rule. Senior Jacob Freeman scored the Gator goal off of an assist from senior Christian Graham.
The Knights improved to 4-2 with the victory and will open Southeastern Athletic Conference play Monday night at Clinton.
