BLADENBORO – West Bladen’s Knights scored a pair of second-half goals to snap a 1-1 tie and defeat South Columbus 3-1 in their Three Rivers Conference boys’ soccer opener.

Junior striker Keni Gomez booted in a first-half goal for the Knights then assisted on senior winger Wilmer Garcia’s goal that put West ahead 2-1 in the second half. Gomez’ goal was his fourth of the season.

Junior winger Andreas Monroy Gonzalez found the back of the net with an insurance goal later in the half.

Senior goalkeeper Nick Gibson “had a clutch night” in goal for the Knights with six saves, according to Coach Phillip Turnage.

The Knights, now 2-3 overall, will travel to West Columbus on Monday night.
