DUBLIN – West Bladen’s Jose Osorio and East Bladen’s Jay McGill advanced to the third round of the Three Rivers Conference boys tennis tournament Wednesday.

Osorio defeated Fairmont’s Caleb Argueta 6-2, 6-0 in the second round, while McGill won a hard-fought match over St. Pauls’ Carlos Luna 3-6, 7-5, 7-5.

McGill defeated South Columbus’ B. Cox 6-3, 6-2 in his first round match. East Bladen’s Jacob Barber defeated Whiteville’s Andrew Cahn 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 in his opening round match but lost to St. Pauls’ Israel Gonzalez 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 in the second round.

West Bladen’s Desmond Lesesne defeated Fairmont’s Elijah Watkins 6-2, 6-1 in the first round, but lost to South Columbus’ G. Hanna 6-0, 6-0 in the second round.

In first round doubles play, East Bladen’s Will Hester and Hoyt Register defeated West Bladen’s Edgardo Lara and Jacob Hester 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. However the team of Hester/Register lost to Whiteville’s Tyler Floyd/ Tanner Hester team in the second round 6-3, 6-3.

In another first round doubles match, East Bladen’s Jackson Bostic and Tucker Norton defeated West Bladen’s Victor Arellano and Logan Lewis 2-6, 7-5, 6-2. The Bostic/Norton team lost to Whiteville’s Antoine Gamble/ Bridger Warlick team 6-3, 6-3.

Tournament play continues Thursday at West Bladen.
