WILMINGTON – Bladen FC Gold battled the USC Twisters to a 2-2 tie Saturday in U12 Boys soccer action at the Wilmington Seaside Classic at the Hugh McRae Athletic Complex.

It was the first organized tournament for the Bladen FC U12 Gold team that has been training and playing organized Friendlies since December.

Cooper Padrick turned a pass from Kevin Labra into the game’s first goal. The Twisters tied the game 1-1 just before halftime.

Ten minutes into the second half Bladen FC would regain the lead at 2-1. Chace Butler ran onto a punt from goal keeper Fernando Rebollar and fired a shot that deflected off the goal keeper. Labra banged in the rebound to put Bladen FC on top.

USC Twisters was able to knot the score 2-2 as sloppy field conditions led to some slipping in the box.

“The backline of Connor Padrick, Christopher Labra, and Cooper Padrick did an amazing job turning away shots,” said Bladen FC Coach Jay Raynor. “Fernando was phenomenal in goal.”

“Lawson Massey did exceptionally well in midfield as did Beckham Coates and Filipe Ryqiel,” continued Coach Raynor. “Chace did a great job using his speed and had a solid game today. Abel Gavina and Daniel Ryqiel also played very well.”

The Bladen FC U12 team is made up of Cooper and Conner Padrick, Beckham Coates, Lawson Massey, Chace Butler, Abel Gavina, Kevin Labra, Chris Labra, Daniel and Filipe Ryqiel, Jabril and Ishaq Algozy. The team is coached by Jay Raynor, Jacob Barber, Byron Massey, Todd Coates, and Jerry Padrick.

Bladen FC U12 Gold will play Coast 06 Black North at 8 a.m. Sunday at Hugh McRae Field #4.
