AUBURN, Ala – Senior quarterback Bo Nix accounted for 3 touchdowns as Auburn’s Tigers knocked off No. 10 Mississippi 31-20 Saturday in a key Southeastern Conference football game.

Nix scored on runs of 11 and 7 yards then engineered a 2-minute drill that ended with his 9-yard touchdown pass to Jarquez Hunter 11 seconds before halftime that vaulted the Tigers into a 28-17 halftime lead.

For the game Nix connected on 22 of 30 passes for 276 yards and directed the Tigers to touchdowns on 4 of their 5 possessions in the 1st half.

“That happens when the O-line comes together and we give him the time he needs,” said senior guard Brandon Council, a former star at West Bladen High, in a post-game story on AuburnTigers.com. “Bo is able to make stuff happen when he has time. The O-line’s got this and we’re going to keep it rolling.”

Tiger offensive line coach Will Friend said, “The best thing about Brandon is he plays hard. He plays as hard as he can on every Saturday.

Sophomore Tank Bigsby leaped over the line from a yard out for the 2nd Auburn TD and totaled 140 yards rushing on 23 carries. The Tiger offensive line cleared the way for 207 rushing yards and 483 total yards in the victory.

The Tigers improved to 3-1 in SEC play and 6-2 overall with the win and will be nationally televisied on CBS Saturday at 3:30 at Texas A&M.

“Every game is important to us,” Council said. “Every game is championship week. That’s what we go by. We’re playing every game like it’s the championship game.
