Dixie Youth BaseballBladen County pounded out 25 hits and rolled to a 20-7 victory over Grays Creek Sunday in the Buddy Burney Dixie Youth Baseball AA Scholarship Games at Clarkton.

Hunter Hester and Aidan Russ belted singles to left-field to start the Bladen first inning. Neveah Singletary smacked a single to center-field that scored Hester. Cade Allen then walloped a 3-run home run to clear the bases and put Bladen up 4-0.

Malikah Moore beat out an infield hit, and Conner Monroe cracked a single to center-field. Emmanuel Drew knocked in Moore with a single, and Chason Harris yanked a single over the bag at third that scored Monroe.

Richard Severine swatted a double to right-centerfield that scored Drew and ended the inning on the 7-runs per inning limit.

Tyler Jacobs lined a single to right-field to start the Bladen second and circled the bases when the ball went through the fielder’s legs. Hester beat out an infield hit and sprinted home when Russ hammered a triple to right-centerfield.

Singletary slugged a ground-rule double to left-field that scored Russ. Allen legged out an infield hit, and Moore’s ground ball plated Singletary.

Monroe slapped a single to left that drove in Allen, and Drew’s single brought home Moore. Severine’s infield hit plated Monroe and ended the inning on the 7-run rule with Bladen up 14-0.

Grays Creek sliced their deficit to 14-7 in the top of the third, but Bladen answered with six runs in the bottom of the inning.

Jacobs started the Bladen third inning with a single to right and scampered all the way to third base on an error. Joshua Strickland’s infield hit brought home Jacobs.

Hester beat out an infield hit, and Russ reached base on an error as Strickland scored. Singletary blasted a double to left-centerfield that scored Hester.

Allen blasted a triple to left-centerfield that scored Russ and Singletary. Moore drove in the final run with a single as Allen darted home.

Allen finished 3-3 at the plate with a triple, a home run and 5 runs batted in. Singletary slammed 2 long doubles and batted 3-3 with 3 rbi’s. Drew and Hester also batted 3-3 with Drew driving in 2 runs.

Jacobs turned in a perfect 2-2 day at the plate, and Russ walloped the triple, batted 2-3 and drove in a run.  Severine also finished 2-3 with an rbi double.

Moore, Monroe and Harris were all 2-3 at the plate with an rbi each. Strickland added a run-scoring single.

Coach Joseph Russ’ Bladen County squad will open play in the District 2 AA Tournament at Tabor City Saturday at 2 p.m. against South Columbus.
