The Buddy Burney Memorial Scholarship Games begin tonight (Friday) at the Clarkton Dixie Youth Baseball Complex. The games will feature AA All-Star Tournament teams from the area and will continue through Sunday evening.
The tournament is named for the late Buddy Burney, long-time Sports Editor of the Bladen Journal and a Dixie Youth Baseball National Director. All proceeds from the Scholarship Games will go to fund Dixie Youth Baseball Scholarships. In 2015 Dixie Youth will award $164,000 of scholarships to 82 high school seniors.
Admission is $3 for everyone over 12 years of age. Concessions will be available and no coolers will be allowed into the complex.
