
FAYETTEVILLE — Senior Connor Tepatti and junior Nate Lowry combined on a 1-hit shutout and struck out 7 batters to lead Pinecrest to a 10-0 victory over East Bladen in a consolation game in the Bulldog Baseball Easter Tournament at Terry Sanford High.
The Eagles, now 7-7 overall, will return to Waccamaw Conference play Tuesday night at Heide Trask. Pinecrest improved to 11-3 with the victory.
A walk, a Tepatti single, 2 errors and a wild pitch snapped a scoreless tie and produced a trio of Patriot runs in the 4th inning. Pinecrest scored 7 runs on 5 hits, 2 hit batters and a walk in the 5th inning.
Sophomore Davion Lewis connected for the only Eagle hit in the 3rd inning. East Bladen stranded 2 runners in the 2nd inning and left the bases loaded in the 3rd inning.
Lewis started and pitched 4 innings allowing 3 unearned runs on 5 hits, 3 walks and a hit batter. Na’Toren Corbett worked 0.2 innings of relief allowing 7 runs on 5 hits, 2 hit batters and a walk. Carson Gooden faced 1 batter and gave up an infield hit in the 5th inning.
Sophomore Liam Dutton batted 3-for-4 with a run batted in and a run scored to lead the Patriot hitters. J. C. Woolard finished 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Bryant Kimbrell and Carter Bean both singled and drove in 2 runs each.
Tepatti pitched 4 scoreless innings and allowed 1 hit while striking out 6. Lowry worked a 1-2-3 5th inning and struck out 1.
