FAYETTEVILLE – Sophomore Christian Gainey pitched a 2-hitter and his Midway teammates pounded out 11 hits as the Raiders defeated East Bladen 14-1 in the Bulldog Easter Invitational baseball tournament.
Gainey walked 5 and struck out 5 in his 4 innings on the mound. The Eagles pushed across their run in the 1st inning.
Senior Grant Barefoot batted a perfect 2-for-2 with 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored for the Raiders. Junior Trey Gregory was 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Junior Casey Culbreth finished 2-for-2 with an RBI and 3 runs scored.
Senior Caden Wilson slugged a solo home run. Sophomore Tripp Westbrook and junior Davis Williams slammed doubles.
East Bladen, now 8-9, will host Midway (10-7) in a Southeastern Athletic Conference game Tuesday night.
