GOLDSBORO — The University of Mount Olive men’s golf team finished 5th after the final round of The Trojan hosted by UMO Tuesday afternoon at Walnut Creek Golf Course.

The Trojans dropped one spot to take 5th with a 295-297-303=895 tournament card.

Ruben van der Berg (72-74-75=221) was the highest ranking Trojan at tied for 15th, falling seven spots in the final round. Arthur Heinbach (76-74-77=227) tied for 24th and was the only other team Trojan inside the top-25.

Cade Hancock of Elizabethtown (73-75-80=228) finished tied for 28th and Brice Ballin (74-83-73=230) moved into scoring position for UMO, placing tied for 32nd to round out the Trojans card. Ballin also had the second eagle for the Trojans in the tournament, after Gabriel Elkholm’s eagle in the second round.

Chandler Perry (78-74-78=230) also finished tied for 32nd as the final Trojan competing Tuesday. Gabriel Elkholm (71-73-72=219) was the highest ranking overall Trojan as he secured a top-10 finish, tying for 9th playing as an individual. Edvin Perman (75-82-75=232) tied for 35th and Shayne DeWitt (81-78-79=238) tied for 49th and also were individuals playing for UMO.
