Cade Hancock of Elizabethtown tied for sixth place in his first professional golf tournament at River Landing on Saturday, April 5.
The Coastal Players Tour, a developmental league for aspiring golfers seeking to further their golfing careers, played their season opener in Wallace.
Hancock got off to a rough start, finding himself 3-over par after two holes. However, he righted the ship and played 1-under from that point on. His 2-over par 74 solidified the tie, resulting in his first experience getting paid for his play.
Randall Hudson from New Bern shot 67 to take first place. Blake McShea shot 69 to finish second.
Hancock is a graduate assistant coach for the men’s and women’s golf team at Mount Olive University. He will graduate this year with a Master’s degree in Business.
“I look forward to what the future holds,” Hancock said.
