According to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office an investigation was started on Tuesday involving campaign signs being stolen. The signs were reported missing from US 701 South, NC 242 South and Peanut Plant Road.
According to the North Carolina General Statute 136-32 (e), it is illegal to remove political campaign signs that have been appropriately placed. If caught removing political signs, a person can be charged with a misdemeanor, according to the North Carolina General Statutes.
There are 15 small signs and one 4 foot x 4 foot sign from the Beverly Parks for Register of Deeds campaign reported missing according to law enforcement. The Sheriff’s Office said no other reports have been received from candidates with missing signs as of Friday afternoon.
