Spread the love

Bladen County Aging, Bladen County Senior Services and Lumber River Council of
Governments will host a Candlelight Reflections service at Trinity United Methodist Church,
901 W. Broad St., Elizabethtown, NC 28337 on November 2, 2017 from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. to
honor and support all family caregivers.

Candlelight Reflection services are a joint venture between NC Alzheimer’s, Inc. and the
NC Family Caregiver Support Program and have become a statewide initiative with the purpose
of bringing awareness about the growing numbers of people living with Alzheimer’s disease and
other related dementias and to recognize and celebrate all family caregivers involved in
day-to day help. The event is open to anyone in the community wishing to show their respect and
support for local families who have taken on the role of caregiving for the frail elderly,
chronically ill or disabled.
The service is held annually on the first Thursday in November in observance of National
Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month and the National Family Caregiver Month to show
community support to those who have taken on this role, often with increased stress that can
impact their personal and work lives. As their caregiving duties increase, caregivers often feel
overwhelmed and underappreciated. This service offers an opportunity for family and friends to
express their gratitude and tell personal stories about a family caregiver who has devoted
themselves to the care and well-being of a loved one. All caregivers, friends, and families
involved in caregiving are invited to attend.
Please pre-register by calling Bladen County Senior Center Director: Carol Mitchell, MA
(910) 872-6331.
