FAYETTEVILLE – Cape Fear Valley Health has lifted its visitor policy restricting children under age 12 from visiting its hospitals effective immediately. The policy was implemented in early January to minimize the spread of flu.

In addition, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center’s Emergency Department is no longer limiting visitors to just one per patient.

Individuals experiencing flu-like symptoms, such as fever, cough, sore throat and runny nose, are still urged not to visit friends and family at the medical center. They should remain home instead and call their primary care physician for treatment guidance.

Hand washing is the most effective way to reduce the spread of flu and other types of infection.
