FAYETTEVILLE – Cape Fear Valley Health will once again hold its Nurses Candlelight Walk in observance of National Nurses Week. The annual walk will be held Thursday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. on the front lawn of Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, off Owen Drive. The event will be held inside the hospital front lobby in case of rain. The public is invited to join the walk to honor or memorialize a nurse special to them. The walking course is roughly half a mile, circling the front grounds of Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Free parking will be provided in the adjacent Cape Fear Cancer Center parking lot. National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6 and ends on May 12, the week of Florence Nightingale’s birthday. Its goal is to raise awareness of the important role nurses play in society. There are nearly 3 million registered nurses in the U.S., with more than 70,000 currently active in North Carolina.
