Elizabethtown, NC – Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery of Elizabethtown, NC has been recognized by Varco Pruden Buildings, one of the world’s largest building-solutions companies. Varco Pruden is a division of BlueScope Buildings North America, Inc., and has a network of more than 1,000 builders across the United States and Canada.
Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery has been named to Varco Pruden’s 2017 Hall of Fame for Agricultural Renovation of a building. The highly competitive Hall of Fame Awards are presented annually to the independent authorized VP builders whose work reflects innovation and excellence though the integration of VP building systems, products, architectural appearance, end use and design. The projects include a range of industrial, commercial, retail and municipal projects. Only a select few are presented the Hall of Fame Award.
Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery was completed in 2016 by Cape Fear Construction of Lumberton, NC. The property was renovated from a manufacturing facility to an event, winery and distillery space with attached restaurant and lodging. The building incorporates hand-laid stone, antique cypress, pecky cypress, burnt pine and hand crafted chandeliers built from recycled barrel staves. Working wine vats and a whisky still are also integrated into the space.
“The Hall of Fame is proof positive that our builders continue to challenge the boundaries by seeking new and innovative ways to prove that pre-engineered buildings are the system of choice,” says Chuck Haslebacher, president of Varco Pruden.
Alex Munroe, owner of Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery, says, “When we were designing and building the winery, I literally slept on a cot in the building every night, so I became intimate with every architectural aspect. Every morning, our team would get together with new ideas. Everyone was passionate about what we were creating in such a beautiful landscape, but the thought of being nationally recognized never entered our minds. I guess our love for the project became evident, so we’re very honored to be named into the Hall of Fame.”
