A car caught fire and burned following a crash on Twisted Hickory Road on Wednesday night.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper K. McVicker said, “The driver said another vehicle came into her lane.”

The driver, a 16-year old female from Clarkton, was driving southbound on Twisted Hickory Road towards Britt Road, when she encountered the vehicle, said Trooper McVicker. The driver overcorrected, crossed the centerline and ran off the road to the left striking a tree. Following the crash, the car caught fire and burned, said Trooper McVicker.

The driver had minor injuries and was transported to Cape Fear Valley-Bladen Healthcare for treatment. There were no passengers in the car and the car burned completely, according to the Highway Patrol.

Trooper McVicker declined to identify the driver due to the fact she is a minor.
