Charles Anene, M.D., has joined the medical staff of Southeastern Health (SeHealth) and practices cardiothoracic/vascular surgery with Southeastern Health Heart and Vascular. He is affiliated with Duke Cardiovascular Surgery of Lumberton.

Dr. Anene completed a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Neb., and earned his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Neb., in 1985. He completed a general surgery residency at Creighton University School of Medicine in 1991 as well as a residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany, N.Y., in 1994. He also completed a fellowship is cardiac surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Mass., in 1996. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.

Before joining SeHealth and DukeHealth, Dr. Anene practiced in Bristol/Langhorne, Pa., specializing in diseases of the heart and blood vessels. His areas of primary interest include heart valve repair and replacement, treatment of aneurysms of the great vessels (open/endovascular), and cerebrovascular diseases.
