West Bladen junior Carley Dawson has verbally committed to continue her softball and academic career at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

Dawson has started at third base for 2 years for a Lady Knight team that posted a 35-13 record. In 2017 West Bladen won the Four County Conference championship with a 20-4 overall record and 13-1 league mark.

This past season Dawson was named All-Four County Conference, Offensive Player of the Year, and District 4 Class 2A player of the year. Carley was also selected to represent Region 4 in the North Carolina Powerade State Games.

In two seasons with the Lady Knights, Dawson has compiled a .466 batting average, connected for 69 hits, drove in 53 runs, and slugged 16 doubles, 3 triples and 3 home runs.

Carley was also part of the Lumberton All-Star team that won the 2016 Dixie Youth Softball World Series in Little River, SC. She also plays showcase softball with Coach Johnny Britt and the Carolina Wildcats that are based in Lumberton.
