The Carolina Bengals, a minor league football team based in Bladen County, held tryouts Saturday afternoon in East Arcadia.
The Bengals are affiliated with NFL Attitude! and a member of the Coastal Football Alliance. A schedule has not been released, although the season is expected to begin in August. The Bengals are planning to play their home games at Legion Stadium in Wilmington.
According to the team’s web site (carolinabengals2020.com), for many players, the Bengals provide a chance to remain in a sport they revere. For others, it is chance to resurrect a stagnant career. Brown also helps put together highlight tapes for players who desire to advance beyond semipro, perhaps to college or a professional league.
The team owners are Jermain and Katrina Brown.
