Today is International Women’s Day. The global celebration of women’s achievements in all areas of life is what the day is all about. Across the world, women contribute in priceless ways to culture, economics, politics, and social principles.

The day promotes unity. According to the International Women’s Day official website, “Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality.”

Gloria Vanderbilt once said, “I’ve always believed that one woman’s success can only help another woman’s success.”

On March 8 each year, the annual International Women’s Day focuses on celebrating women’s achievements, raising awareness about women’s equality, lobbying for parity for women, and promoting female-focused charities.

BladenOnline has our hands up high to show we support women and their value to our communities. Last week we announced Ilka Huntley McElveen, a local business owner and now published writer, has a new book out, Pathways to Her Rise.

The book features personal stories and practical advice from ten women pursuing their dreams. Marsha Guerrier presents the book and launched it today.

Mrs. McElveen is now offering the book for sale on her webpage. (Click here to purchase the book.)
