AmbassadorThe Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors met on Tuesday morning at Goldston’s Restaurant in White Lake and began to make plans for an exciting year. Ambassadors were issued T-shirts to wear to events. 

The group discussed ideas for membership and set the third Tuesday of each month at 8 a.m. at the Cape Fear Farmer’s Market in Elizabethtown. The Chamber Ambassador’s program is open to members of the Chamber and applications for the Ambassador program can be obtained from the Chamber office or Chamber member.

 

The Ambassador Committee also discussed several ideas for fundraisers. Some of the fundraiser ideas suggested included a hot dog eating contest, Dancing with the Stars, a Miss Bladen County pageant, a pancake breakfast and a Celebrity Waiter/Waitress event at a local restaurant.

In other business, City Sandwhich Shop in downtown Elizabethtown, recently closed. The owner of the business, James Leach was an Ambassador. Members of the group reported making several attempts to contact Leach without success.

The committee decided to make a recommendation to the chamber board to have Leach removed and replaced as an ambassador. Dawn Maynard, the Executive Director of the chamber said she would put it on the next agenda for the chamber board. 

The Ambassador Committee will meet again on Tuesday, August 16, at  8 a.m. at the Cape Fear Farmer’s Market.
