The Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce announced its Caring Person and Outstanding Small Business Award winners on Thursday.

Executive Director Dawn Maynard said the Caring Person Award was given posthumously to Bobby Lewis.  Maynard said he was a candidate for the award prior to his passing away unexpectedly.

“He was chosen because of all the things he did for the community and the things he did for Harmony Hall, the Bladen County Historical Society and the Battle of Elizabethtown–all in a volunteer capacity,” said Maynard.

She added that she regrets the Chamber was not able to present Lewis the award before he passed away.

The Outstanding Small Business Award was presented to Whimsical Florist and Gifts owned by Maurice Williams. Maynard said he was chosen because of his community involvement.

“He is very service oriented in the community,” said Maynard.

She said that Williams was always ready and willing to assist local non-profit groups with their activities and needs.

“He also assists the Chamber with its storefront,” said Maynard. She added that he is always willing to assist any business with their storefronts and window displays.
