There has been a change in the location of the Bethel Precinct voting location due to Hurricane Florence. Voters who are voting in the Bethel Precinct will be casting their ballots at Singletary United Methodist Church in Dublin.

Board of Elections Director Cynthia Shaw said the change was made due to damage that ocurred to the Dublin Lions Club building during Hurricane Florence.

Bladen County Board of Elections Chairman Bobby Ludlum said of the damage to Lions Club Building, “Its pretty bad inside. There is no way to put power on it.”

He said he met Board of Elections member Rob Davis and representatives from the Town of Dublin to look at the building. He said the ceiling on the south and north ends of the building has caved in and the light fixtures in the kitchen are hanging down.

Ludlum said they checked the Dublin Fire Department and decided it was not practical for the number of voters expected. He said they looked at Dublin First Baptist Church as another possibility but due to the day care on site there were concerns about the amount of traffic.  Ludlum said it was decided to move the precinct to Singletary United Methodist Church.

Ludlum said letters were sent to all of the registered voters in the precinct and about 300 letters were returned as undeliverable.

Voters with questions regarding their registration or precinct location, can contact the Bladen County Board of Elections office at 910-862-6951 or they can visit the State Board of Elections website at
