Cade and his sister Cassie

Spread the love

Cade and his sister Cassie

Local teen golfer, Cade Hancock, is raising money as part of the American Junior Golf Association’s Leadership Links. The charity he chose is Operation Smile, a charity that helps children around the world that were born with a cleft lip or cleft palate.  This charity is especially close to his heart as his sister, Cassie, was born with a cleft lip and palate. Since three months of age, Cassie has been through 10 surgeries to correct her lip and palate. Cassie is now a thriving junior at East Carolina State University.

Cade has seen the struggles his sister has been through and the financial costs that his family has endured. He believes that no matter what economic situation a child is born into, that child should not be denied exceptional surgical care to correct facial deformation.

Since beginning this drive in February 2017, Cade has raised over 50% of his goal of $10,000. If Cade reaches his goal, not only will he be supporting Operation Smile, but it may help him better his chances to earn a college scholarship.

Hancock says, “I feel blessed to be a part of this most wonderful game. My hope is to use this game to raise money for Operation Smile.”
