One man was arrested on Saturday after leading Elizabethtown police officers on a chase. According to Lt. Mark McMichael, Sgt. Martin observed an individual driving a 2016 Dodge Challenger in a careless manner.

Lt. McMichael, said that Devon Rogers, 25, of Elizabethtown, pulled out of the parking lot of the Petro Mart at the intersection of S. Poplar Street and Broad Street spinning his tires. Lt. McMichael said Rogers lost control of his vehicle and crossed into oncoming traffic.  Lt. McMichael said when Sgt. Martin attempted to stop Rogers, he led officers on a chase on Poplar Street.

“He ended up driving to his home on Mercer Mill Road and struck a building on his own property,” said Lt. McMichael.

Lt. McMichael said during the chase, Rogers’ vehicle also struck several signs.

Lt. McMichael said when officers searched the vehicle, they found a 0.38 special Taurus handgun which had been reported stolen in South Carolina.

Rogers was arrested and charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and damage to property.
