BUIES CREEK – Elizabethtown native Chris Cromartie made 5 tackles Saturday, but his Campbell Camels dropped a Big South Conference football game 34-17 to defending conference champion Monmouth.

Cromartie, a senior defensive lineman, now has 21 tackles – 3 solo – but the Hawks snapped the Camels 3-game winning streak. Quarterback Tony Muskett threw for 286 yards and 3 touchdowns, and Juwan Farri ran for 111 yards and a touchdown to lead Monmouth.

Camel quarterback Wiley Hartley threw for 279 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Caleb Snead caught 6 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown.

The Camels, now 2-1 in league play and 3-3 overall, will host Kennesaw State Saturday at 4 p.m. on Homecoming Day.
