With this being the last weekend before Christmas, some folks are in search of ways to entertain friends and family alike.  We’ve assembled a list of weekend happenings throughout the region to help with those plans.

Here in Bladen County there is the Lu Mil Vineyard Christmas Light Show. This show is in its eighth year and is touted as the best ever.  The show will take place from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Thursday through Wednesday nights.

The route has been extended by three-quarters of a mile and new decorations have been added.  Cost is $6 per person. There is also a country buffet available at a cost $11 per person plus tax.  Santa is also available to receive your child’s Christmas wish list and there is a Candy Shop that is filled treats sure to fill any stocking.

On Sunday, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. visit Harmony Hall Plantation Village, Inc. in White Oak. Take a step back in time and see the house and buildings decorated in period decorations using natural items such as pine boughs and magnolia.  Admission is free and donations are welcomed.

Also on Sunday, Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church will perform their Christmas Cantata at 11 a.m. and again at 7 p.m. and Happy birthday Jesus will take place at Bluefield United Methodist Church at 6 p.m.

Bladenboro First Baptist Church will have their Live Nativity beginning Sunday and continuing through Tuesday. Times are 6:30 p.m. nightly with performances taking place very 30 minutes. The church is located at 500 South Main Street, Bladenboro.

On Wednesday, Dec. 23, Center Road Baptist Church Children, Youth, and Praise and Worship Choir will present their Christmas drama at 7 p.m.

In the region, the Best Christmas pageant ever will be performed at the Cape Fear Regional Theater in Fayetteville on Thursday and Friday at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $10 to $12. The theater is located at 1209 Hay Street, Fayetteville.

On Saturday, Tryon’s Palace in New Bern will celebrate its 35th annual Candlelight Christmas Celebration from 4:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. For more information call 1-800-437-5767.

In Wilmington, the Wilmington Railroad Museum features the Train and Light Spectacular Friday and Saturday evenings from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Admission is $5 per person.  The museum is located at 505 Nutt Street, Wilmington.

The Wilmington Railroad Museum will also offer a reading of the popular children’s book Polar Express on Saturday and Sunday at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. For more information call 910-763-2634 to select your time.
