With students in Bladen County Schools starting the 2020-2021 school year in Phase C remote learning, the district will be distributing Chromebook laptops to its students. Any student who does not have a device at home to complete schoolwork will have an opportunity to check-out a device from school. The upperclassmen in the high schools kept their BCS Chromebook over the summer and will not need to check-out a device; they will continue to use their current device for this school year.

For this school year, the annual $20 user fee for students is being waived. However, students and parents will be responsible for the costs of any damages to the device or if the device is lost or stolen. Additionally, parents and students must clear all previously owed fees before they will be able to check-out a device. Fees can be paid at the school.

Parents and students will be required to sign a User Agreement before checking-out the device. Devices will not be released to students without a parent/guardian present. The parent will need to provide a picture ID for verification.

Each school will be scheduling individual times that parents and students are to report to the school in order to adhere to social distancing guidelines and to limit the number of people in the building at one time. Only one parent will be permitted inside the building with their child. Please call your child’s school office to schedule your pick-up time.

Parents and students are reminded that face masks must be worn at all times while on school grounds.  A wellness screening will be required to enter the school. The safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance.

Schools will be following the schedule below for distribution:

  • All High School freshmen, including the Early College: Monday, August 10, and Tuesday, August 11 (12:00 – 7:00 PM)
  • All Middle Schools: Wednesday, August 12, and Thursday, August 13 (12:00 – 7:00 PM)
  • All Elementary Schools: Monday, August 17, and Tuesday, August 18 (12:00 – 7:00 PM)

For students in kindergarten through 8th grade, their device must be returned when school resumes for face-to-face instruction, except for high school students, which will be at the end of the school year.
