civitas-logo-redRALEIGH – Today Civitas filed a complaint with the State Board of Elections (SBE) calling for the SBE to investigate the possibility that Attorney General Roy Cooper has taken money that should go to education and instead funneled it to activist groups.

You can read the complaint here.

Civitas President Francis De Luca said, “The North Carolina Environmental Partnership has never filed a report with the State Board of Elections, and according to the Center for Public Integrity, it is, by far, the largest sponsor of ads in the governor’s race. Over two years is more than enough time for the SBE to answer our original complaint, and we expect a swift response to this complaint. The public deserves to know what’s going on in their elections.”

Founded in 2005, the Civitas Institute is a Raleigh, NC-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit policy organization committed to creating a North Carolina whose citizens enjoy liberty and prosperity derived from limited government, personal responsibility and civic engagement. To that end, Civitas develops and advocates for conservative policy solutions to improve the lives of all North Carolinians.
