Board Of EducationAccording to Bladen County Board of Education Public Information Officer Valerie Newton,  the Bladen County Board of Education is NOT voting to consolidate schools tonight. The is complete transparency. The board is being asked to vote on whether to allow the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NC DPI) to conduct an analysis of the district based on enrollment and other factors. This action item is specified in the details of the agenda and is as follows:

 
“A motion to request that the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s School Planning Division provide information on projected school enrollment, recommendations on district reorganization of schools, and that considerations for consolidation proposals be postponed until DPI has provided recommendations based on their review of relevant data of Bladen County.”
