Police have now charged 5 people in connection with the murder of an elderly customer of a Red Springs convenience store.
27 year old Chakesha Solomon of Clarkton has been arrested and charged with conspiracy to robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The attempted robbery occurred on December 11 at Roscoe’s store, 400 N. Main Street in Red Springs. 74 year old James Johnson was a customer in the store and was killed by the attempted burglars. Rodney Maynard, the store owner was shot in the shoulder but survived.
Solomon, 32 year old Ladarrian Kearse of Red Springs, Vayshawn McLean 18 of Shannon, Derrick McArthur,18 of Red Springs and Christopher McGeachy of Red Springs have been arrested.
Police say two entered the store and robbery was their motive.
Soloman, Kearse, McArthur and McLean face identical charges.
Mc Geachy has been charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy with a dangerous weapon, attempted first-degree murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
The investigation continues.
